The first showing at the newly renovated theatre house will be Sting’s Broadway musical, the Last Ship!
The Turku City Theatre will open its doors to the public on September 15th, when the Broadway musical the Last Ship, with music and lyrics by 16-time Grammy winner Sting, will take up the main stage. Fittingly, the musical reflects the struggles of the shipbuilding community – a topic that strongly resonates with the people of Turku. 
Paavo – Lentävä Turkulainen (Paavo – The flying Turkuite), a comedy-drama written by Roope Lipasti will premiere on September 22nd in a brand new space in the theatre house, the Small Stage.
The long awaited new rendition of Finnish national treasure Aleksis Kivi’s Seitsemän Veljestä (Seven Brothers) returns to the theatre under Lauri Maijalas direction. The play will premiere on November 3rd, and the brothers will be played by Markus Järvenpää, Paavo Kinnunen, Eero Milonoff, Joel Mäkinen, Olli Rahkonen,Jonas Saari and Joonas Saartamo.
The Small Stage will also house  Kybersielut (Cyber Souls), a blade runner -type science fiction stage film from November 17th onwards. The play stars Pamela Tola and Lauri Tilkanen.
The Turku City Theather is also hosting Prinsessa Hamlet (Princess Hamlet), a co-production with the puppetry network Aura of Puppets. The much commended play, written by E.L. Karhu (née Emilia Pöyhönen) will take the stage at Sopukka on October 13th – with all the visual spice you might expect.
